Microdermabrasion Frequently Asked Questions
MICRODERMABRASION - Called“The lunchtime peel” by Vogue and Elle. To rejuvenate and revitalize your skin – this non-surgical, painless treatment is in high-demand for reducing fine lines, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation (brown spots), aging skin, acne (clogged pores and some scars), blemishes, dry skin, oily skin and more. Microdermabrasion can leave you with softer, “more youthful,” glowing skin after just one treatment. Successfully used on light or dark skin – this procedure can be used on the face, neck, chest, arms, elbows, knees and hands with outstanding results.
Microdermabrasion is quick, simple, convenient and popular among patients showing early signs of aging, sun exposure and other facial imperfections. Not only does it exfoliate the skin’s surface – it also promotes new cell growth in the basal (deepest) layer of the skin (dermis) – it cleans the pores and stimulates collagen networking to further improve the skin’s texture.

Microdermabrasion Frequently Asked Questions:
What is involved in microdermabrasion? Minute crystals are sprayed over the surface of the skin using a precise amount of force. This causes the “sloughing” of dead skin cells which are vacuumed off along with the crystals – leaving the skin softer, smoother, tighter and younger looking. This process is an effective, deep “exfoliation” of the skin.
The crystals are sprayed using a hand piece held close to the skin. The results can vary from gentle to more aggressive – depending on your personal goals. Treatments last from 10 to 30 minutes and can be done on any part of the body. After your treatment you can expect a “healthy glow."
How many microdermabrasion treatments do I need and when do I need them? During your complimentary consultation we will “customize” your treatment plan based upon your realistic goals and concerns. The number of microdermabrasion treatments depends on the areas to be treated and the conditions involved. Additional treatments are usually recommended from one to two weeks depending on your personal goals. Improvement is usually noticed after one treatment – but remember that the results are cumulative and multiple treatment plans are designed with this concept in mind. You may choose (like most patients) to have “maintenance” treatments each season to keep your skin healthy and glowing.
Is Microdermabrasion right for me? It’s ideal for the “busy” person who wants improved skin appearance without more aggressive treatments like laser resurfacing. It’s right for people who can’t take time for recovery or who are sensitive to chemicals or who are not responding well to acne medications. We will help you decide if this is right for you.
