It’s not hard to notice a beautiful pair of lips. You just recognize them when you see them. But what, exactly, makes them so attractive?
In 2017, a study published in JAMA Facial Plastic Surgery analyzed how lip surface area and top-to-bottom ratio impacted people’s opinion of overall beauty. Researchers showed focus groups a photograph that they then adjusted and found that lips with a 53.5 percent increase in surface area and a 1 to 2 ratio of upper to lower lip were considered the most attractive. Also, lips that made up about 10 percent of the lower third of the face were also deemed to be the most beautiful.
We, of course, when boosting your lip volume, don’t follow any sort of formula. We look at your face and lips and determine the best balance and most natural-looking solution. Using state-of-the-art fillers such as Restylane Kysse, Restylane Silk, Restylane, Juvederm and Volbella, we add fullness that you may have lost over time, restoring your appearance to its former youthful look.
If you are interested in plumping your lips or minimizing folds and wrinkles in the lip area, call our office for a complimentary consultation. We’ll explain your options and devise a treatment plan just for you.

With school doors about to shut for the summer, you may be feeling the squeeze on your typical routine. Many parents experience an extra juggle when kids are home, trying to balance so many responsibilities while adapting to the summer schedule. But there’s no reason that your personal beauty regimen has to hit the back burner in the process.
This time of year is particularly opportune for our quick treatments that provide instant results. One that hits the mark is The Liquid Facelift.
We all love our collagen and elastin. But as we age, these structural proteins start to dwindle, and as they do, our faces lose their volume and bounce. Worse, wrinkles, lines and folds form, too, since the support behind the skin is no longer there to keep it stretched and firm.
We can lift and contour your facial features and restore your natural fullness in the places where you need it. Using advanced dermal fillers such as Voluma, Restylane Lyft, Restylane Defyne and Radiesse, we provide a pain-free nonsurgical “liquid facelift” that can reduce wrinkles, lines and folds, create a more rested and fresh look, and return your face to its curved former self. And we can do it quickly and safely. The fillers that we use are made from substances that your body produces naturally.
You may want to “lift” the entire face, or you may want to target specific spots, such as bags under the eyes, marionette lines, sagging eye lids, jowls and flattened cheeks. We can even disguise bumps on the nose, a method that will keep you out of the operating room and free of anesthesia, recuperation and downtime.

Your skin has a natural plan. With each year that passes, it undergoes assorted stressors, some that it has experienced before and some that are brand new. And it reacts to these changing stimuli in different ways, subtle and not-so. Unfortunately, while you may not feel any older, your skin has another story to tell. Aging plays tricks on its delicate composition. But do not despair–you have strategies at your disposal for warding off the first signs of attack. The trick: know what’s coming and take as many precautions as possible.
Here is what you can expect:
In Your 20s and 30s: Get ready. Hormonal changes may happen during this time, causing adult acne. We can treat it, though, with our Pulsed Dye Laser. Also, you may notice hints of wrinkles (yes, they begin early) and pigmentation. Botox and Dysport will help minimize lines, keeping them from setting and deepening. Catching them early is more effective than waiting until they are extreme. Fraxel DUAL and IPL will help reduce discoloration, brown spots and freckling.
In Your 40s: Your skin may begin to lose its luster, appearing dull and rough. Also, age spots may appear since the skin can’t repair itself as quickly or as completely as it used to. You may notice, too, that your skin doesn’t glow as much, since skin cell shedding begins to slow down. But, we can brighten and smooth out your skin with Clear+Brilliant, Fraxel DUAL and Fraxel Repair laser treatments. Your skin tone will look even, and wrinkles and pores will diminish. During your 40s, wrinkles may be deeper than they were before. Dermal fillers such as Restylane, Restylane Defyne, Restylane Refyne, Restylane Lyft, Restylane Silk, Voluma, Juvederm, Belotero and Radiesse, and neurotoxins, such as Botox and Dysport, are effective in reducing the appearance of these lines and folds.
In Your 50s and 60s: Subtle lines may have turned into deep wrinkles and previously taut skin may have begun to sag. Declining collagen and elastin levels cause your skin to become thinner and more fragile. As the underlying skin structure is less supported, the skin falls down and droops. We have many treatments, such as Infini, that can work wonders to resurface skin and stimulate collagen production, which will help lift up and plump your skin, nonsurgically. The treatments will also help to brighten and lighten any discoloration caused by sun exposure or simple aging.
At all times of your life, remember to do what you can to preserve your skin’s natural beauty. Wear plenty of sunscreen (and not only in the summer), avoid the sun as much as possible, steer clear of smoking and cleanse and moisturize often.

I hear from a lot of you who are considering body sculpting treatments that losing weight is difficult, no matter what strategies you try. Often, you’ll tell me that you exercise routinely and watch your calories but still can’t drop even five extra pounds. For those of you are experiencing a metabolism that is slowing down with age or decline in hormones, losing pounds is especially hard, most notably for women, who store more fat than men do.
If you’re thinking about body contouring, here are a few good questions to ask yourself as you decide. Count how many you can answer with a “yes.”
- Do you watch your portion size, eating small amounts more frequently?
- Do you make sure to eat breakfast?
- Do you graze instead of eating three large meals a day?
- Do you avoid eating late at night?
- Do you avoid refined grains such as white bread and crackers?
- Do you avoid hidden sugars and fats?
- Do you avoid processed foods that contain MSG, sodium nitrate and other risky food additives?
- Do you include weight training with your cardio workouts?
- Do you do resistance exercises to build muscle?
- Do you mix up the types of workouts that you do?
- Are you sleeping from 6 to 8 hours a day?
If you’ve answered “yes” to all or most of these questions, you are doing everything right. But if you still are having trouble losing weight, and you do not have an underlying medical condition that is causing the weight retention, you could be a good candidate for SmartLipo, a body sculpting procedure.

The muscles of your face are some of the most complex in the body. Knowing exactly how they function beneath the surface of your skin is crucial for making subtle changes in your appearance.
Some facial muscles work against each other—certain ones lift a given feature while other ones push it downward. The outer part of the eyebrow, for instance, is lifted up by forehead muscles and pulled down by squinting muscles. This creates a push-pull scenario, and it also creates an opportunity, since we have the ability to relax chosen muscles with Botox.
So, if we want the muscle that does the lifting to do its job, but not the muscle that does the pulling, we can relax the pulling muscle with Botox. The result is what is known as a nonsurgical brow lift. With just a few simple injections that raise and shape the brow area, your face will appear brighter, younger and more refreshed. In the process, forehead lines, crow’s feet and frown lines are also corrected.
Often, the lift of the brow measures only about 2 millimeters, but the difference is striking. You will look rejuvenated immediately, without undergoing traditional brow or forehead surgery.
