To Sculpt Or Not To Sculpt
It is a big question for many of you. Particularly, if you’ve never had trouble losing weight by dieting and exercising, the thought of body sculpting may seem strange. But, it’s sometimes hard for some of us to improve our bodies without a little help.
Body shaping changes the size, profile and parameters of your anatomy, refining and sculpting areas that fail to respond to fewer calories and more time at the gym. My philosophy is to look at your body as a whole, not as a sum of parts, to create a natural and balanced silhouette that suits your frame. In our fully accredited facility, I utilize many state-of-the-art methods for doing this, including SmartLipo Triplex, Exilis Ultra 360, Thermage CPT and Cellulaze.
What Will Body Sculpting Do For You?
- tighten loose skin after dramatic weight loss
- restore a pre-pregnancy body after childbirth
- tighten up loose saggy skin and remove excess fat pockets
- eliminate cellulite and the “dimples” it causes
- give you a trim, firm and contoured body
- boost self-confidence and esteem
When Is the Best Time for Body Sculpting?
First, it’s important that you are in good general health and are at a stable weight for at least three months. You may choose to have treatments on multiple body areas, and these may be done at the same time or at different times, depending upon your individual plan. We’ll help you decide what is best for you.
Here are some of the procedures that we perform right here in our office:
SmartLipo Triplex: This procedure is less invasive and more precise than traditional liposuction. It removes unwanted fat from specific body areas that have resisted even the strictest diets and toughest exercise regimens. The process actually melts fat, stimulates skin tightening and encourages collagen renewal, using three wavelengths of light and a tiny cannula the size of a small ballpoint pen tip. SmartLipo is particularly effective on the abdomen, neck, jawline, inner arms, male breasts, love handles, bra fat, inner/outer thighs, inner knees, chin, hips, buttocks, pubic mound and back of neck.
Exilis Ultra 360: This is a nonsurgical skin tightening treatment that reduces unwanted inches and lifts and contours sagging skin anywhere on your body.
Thermage CPT: A nonsurgical treatment that will transform skin all over your body, Thermage CPT will tighten loose skin on the eyelids, under-eye areas, abdomen, arms, legs and buttocks. It’s the most effective thermal lift treatment for a multitude of concerns, and it yields dramatic results without incisions and recuperation.
Cellulaze: This minimally invasive procedure melts excess fat under the skin and removes the fibrous bands that pull skin into a dimple. It helps to decrease the appearance of cellulite in the areas where it typically crops up–the buttocks, hips, thighs, arms and abdomen. Cellulaze also stimulates collagen production, which thickens your skin.
As the summer approaches, I look forward to helping you devise a personalized treatment plan for reshaping and contouring your skin. I know that you will love feeling younger, healthier and more vibrant. Keeping Dry Skin at Bay
When winter temperatures hit, we put on coats, scarves, hats and boots to keep our bodies warm. But it is just as, if not more important, to protect the delicate skin on your face.
Biting cold and wind can assault exposed skin, causing dryness, chafing and other more serious skin disorders, including frostbite. And, it happens quickly. So, before you venture out, even for a few minutes, moisturize with a broad-spectrum sunblock and apply a petroleum-based product to your lips. If your moisturizer is oil-based, choose an oil that is “non-clogging,” such as avocado, mineral, primrose or almond. Then, cover your face as best as you can with a scarf or hood. Also, don’t forget the sunglasses, which will protect your eyes from glare, freezing temperatures and wind.
To avoid the inflamed and itchy skin that happens all over your body during the winter months, you can take several preventative steps all season long, around the clock. Remember, the condition happens because of a lack of water, not oil, so the following tactics aim to prevent dehydration.
- If your facial skin is uncomfortably dry, avoid using harsh peels, masks, and alcohol-based toners or astringents, all of which can strip vital oil from your skin. Instead, find a cleansing milk or mild foaming cleanser, an alcohol-free toner and masks that are “deeply hydrating” rather than clay-based, which tend to draw moisture out of the face.
- Trap water from a shower or bath quickly by applying a water-in-oil cream moisturizer. If you have sensitive skin to begin with, use a cream moisturizer that does not contain lanolin or perfume, and don’t scrimp. More is better in this case, particularly on your hands, elbows and feet (these can contain petroleum or glycerin).
- Choose a shower instead of a bath; sitting in hot water will break down lipids and dry your skin.
- Limit your use of hot water and soap. Take short lukewarm showers, using non-detergent soaps and cleansers, and only as much as you need since they remove natural moisturizers from the skin. If you must bathe, keep the water as cool as possible.
- Keep your house temperature as low as you can (no higher than 78 degrees) and use a humidifier that returns moisture to the air.
- Overnight, use a thicker night cream on your face, a product formulated for the delicate skin under and over the eyes, and a lip balm.

Love Yourself First
This Valentine’s Day, you may be thinking about the people in your life whom you love. But don’t forget about you.
Being happy with ourselves is a struggle for many of us. For all sorts of reasons, we often have a hard time embracing our strengths, accepting our imperfections and knowing what to do to feel and be our best selves.
I often wonder how we fit into this landscape. We improve physical imperfections. Some might say that people should be content with what they look like, without the extra help that we offer. Over the years, we’ve found that this extra help, when you request it on your own, goes a long way to help you feel better about yourselves. And we are happy about making you happy.
So, this Valentine’s Day, take some time for yourself. If we can help you do that, let us know.
This month is an optimal time to consider our favorite mid-winter treatments, including SmartLipo Triplex, Fraxel Dual and Repair, Kybella, Thermage CPT and Laser Hair Removal.

Red Lines No More
If your face is beginning to look like a road map, don’t worry. At some point, you may notice tiny red spider veins criss-crossing your cheeks and nose, giving you a ruddy look. These lines are simply small broken veins that are pretty common and tend to return.
We have two treatments that show terrific results in reducing the presence of these veins, without any peeling or sloughing. Both Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) and the Diolite laser enhance and rejuvenate skin. You’ll see fewer lines and redness, and your skin will appear more youthful.
Here is what our treatments can do for you:
IPL: Intense Pulsed Light rejuvenation can help to restore a healthy-looking and vibrant appearance. By delivering broadband light through the skin, the laser helps to decrease redness, pigmentation, lines and pore size. After treatment, the overall texture and tone of your skin will be improved. IPL can be used on your neck, chest, hands and legs, as well as the face, where broken veins are most typical.
Also known as a “photofacial,” the noninvasive treatment will not damage the surface of your skin. The light is directed to the deeper parts of the skin (dermis); the outside layer (epidermis) is untouched.
In addition to working well on facial spider veins, IPL photorejuvenation improves imperfections such as rosacea, fine wrinkles, sun and age spots.
Diolite: Diolite is a gentle laser that pinpoints the skin’s target area with extreme precision. It is an extremely effective treatment for eradicating superficial facial spider veins. Diolite helps to erase vascular and pigmented imperfections while leaving your surrounding tissue untouched. Older lasers could cause pain, blistering, oozing and crusting, but Diolite produces the same results without these side effects. After treatment, your skin will look youthful and refreshed.
Diolite can also help to minimize cherry angiomas, which are raised red mole-like lesions. In addition, it works on small brown spots such as freckles, sun spots and pigmented keratoses. These may be found anywhere on the body.
