Rejuvenating Your Gaze: Non-Surgical Treatments for Aging Eyes

As we age, the delicate skin around our eyes is often the first to show signs of aging. From wrinkles and fine lines to puffiness and dark circles, aging eyes can detract from our overall appearance and make us look tired or older than we feel. Fortunately, there are a variety of options to rejuvenate the eye area without the need for invasive surgery.

Botox for Crow’s Feet: One of the most popular non-surgical treatments for aging eyes is Botox. This neuromodulator works by relaxing the muscles around the eyes, reducing the appearance of crow’s feet and dynamic wrinkles. With just a few quick injections, Botox can smooth out fine lines and restore a more youthful, refreshed look to the eye area.

Dermal Fillers for Tear Troughs: Hollowing or dark circles under the eyes, known as tear troughs, can contribute to a tired or aged appearance. Injectable dermal fillers, such as Restylane Eyelight and Belotero, can help plump up this area, smoothing out hollows and reducing the appearance of dark circles. By restoring lost volume, dermal fillers can rejuvenate the under-eye area and create a more rested, youthful appearance.

Laser Skin Resurfacing: Laser treatments such as Fraxel Repair or Fraxel Dual, can address a variety of concerns around the eyes, including wrinkles, fine lines, and uneven skin texture. Fractional laser resurfacing stimulates collagen production and promotes skin renewal, resulting in smoother, tighter skin with improved tone and texture. Laser treatments can also help reduce the appearance of sun damage and age spots, giving the eyes a brighter, more radiant look.

Thermage for Skin Tightening: Thermage utilizes radiofrequency energy to stimulate collagen production and tighten loose skin around the eyes. This non-invasive treatment targets sagging skin, smoothing out wrinkles and improving overall skin texture without surgery or downtime.

Exilis Ultra 360 for Eye Rejuvenation: Exilis Ultra 360 combines radiofrequency and ultrasound energies to target both superficial and deep layers of the skin around the eyes. By promoting collagen remodeling and tightening loose skin, Exilis Ultra 360 can reduce wrinkles, improve skin elasticity, and enhance the overall appearance of the eye area.

Eyes: Windows To Your…Age

No one really wants to reveal his or her age. But there are places on our bodies that can give secrets away, namely, the eyes.

The skin surrounding your eyes is extremely delicate, making it susceptible to cosmetic problems that make you look older than you are. Also, because it moves so much during facial expression, lines and wrinkles form over time. Crow’s feet emerge on the outside of the eye and creases appear underneath the lash line, for instance. Add dark circles, hollowing, drooping lids and puffiness, and you will appear tired and worn. Perhaps you’ve tried creams that claim to tighten skin or cold tea bags and cucumbers that temporarily reduce fluid retention, but you are still not happy when you look into the mirror.

We offer a range of nonsurgical treatments that will help return a well-rested look to your eyes and ultimately, your face. Depending on your individual needs, we can craft a personal plan that will help you look refreshed and more youthful, with minimal downtime and recuperation.

Rescue Those Aging Eyes

So much of your appearance–how young or old, happy or sad, or refreshed or worn out–begins with your eyes. If you feel you’ve lost the sparkle that you used to have, you’ll be happy to know that we can help.

The delicate skin in this area is extremely thin and becomes thinner with time. Because it contains little subcutaneous fat, it is vulnerable to conditions such as dark circles, bags or swelling, hollowing, and drooping lids and brows. Also, it is especially sensitive to stress from facial movements such as laughing, squinting and frowning, repeated motions that contribute to the formation of lines and wrinkles such as crow’s feet.

Also, the thick collagen network that gives skin structural support begins to break down with time. Your body’s internal processes and external factors such as sun exposure increase the levels of enzymes that break down collagen.

What can help: We have a repertoire of nonsurgical treatments that are safe and effective. Here is a quick run-down:

Dermal fillers, such as BeloteroJuvederm, and Restylane will plump up crow’s feet, lines and wrinkles under the eye and hollowing that may result as we age.

Injectables such as Botox and Dysport will help minimize crow’s feet and lines caused by normal facial expression.

Lasers, including Fraxel RepairFraxel DUAL, Laser Wrinkle Reduction and Clear & Brilliant, will help add smoothness, glow and luminosity to the area around your eyes.

Finally, Microdermabrasion and GentleWaves Photomodulation are two more useful techniques for brightening your eyes by restoring vigor to the delicate skin surrounding them.

We’re confident that all of our treatments will help you look happy and younger and feel that way, too.

Recharge Those Eyes

When you really want to know how someone feels, you look into his eyes. They can often hold the answers to many mysteries. Unfortunately, they can be a lot more obvious about your age.

The skin surrounding your eyes, because it is so delicate, is at risk for a multitude of cosmetic problems that make you look older than you are. And, because this area is involved in facial expression, the natural movement of the skin causes lines and wrinkles to form over time. Crow’s feet, additional lines and wrinkles underneath the lower lashes, dark circles, hollowing, drooping lids and puffiness all contribute to a tired appearance. Perhaps you’ve tried creams that claim to tighten skin or cold tea bags and cucumbers that temporarily reduce fluid retention, but the concerns remain.

We offer a range of nonsurgical treatments that will help return a well-rested look to your eyes and therefore, your face. Depending on your individual needs, we can craft a personal plan that will help you look refreshed and more youthful, with minimal downtime and recuperation.

Eye, Eye, Sir

Sometimes, the same conditions look different on men than they do on women. Some are more pronounced. Some are less so. A man’s eye area is subject to all sorts of stress and can have a huge impact on his overall expression. If you are noticing any of the common concerns described below, keep calm (and please don’t wrinkle your forehead). We can perform simple treatments that will help return a look of youth and vigor–with short office visits and limited or no recovery time.

Droopy Brows and Eyelids: Excessive movement of the muscles surrounding the brow and particularly, issues involving the levator muscle (this elevates the upper lid), can cause your eyebrow to lose its natural arch. Botox, Dysport or Thermage/Thermal Lift can raise the brows to a more youthful position.

Crow’s Feet: These fine lines, which begin at the outer corner of the eyes and fan out, sometimes to the hairline, tend to make eyes appear squinty and aged. They are inevitable, since they are caused by the natural movement of the face, but they don’t have to be permanent. Botox or Dysport injections are the speedy solution for smoothing out lines and wrinkles.

Under-eye Bulging: When fat redistributes from the eye socket to the area underneath the lower eyelid, you will see sacks and bulging. This is a common sign of aging. To reduce the puffiness, we can use Thermage/Thermal Lift and help refresh and revive your appearance.

Sunken Tear Troughs: As you age, you may experience hollowing of the tear troughs on either side of your nose, just below the bridge and lower eyelid. Sometimes, these sunken spaces can extend as far down as the cheek. With hyaluronic acid fillers such as Restylane, Juvederm or Belotero, we can fill the troughs and restore the vitality of the eye area.

Dark Circles: When puffiness occurs right under the lower eyelid and is combined with the hollowing of the tear trough, shadows form. These are what we see as dark circles. Even if you don’t feel tired, you will look as if you are. Restylane, Juvederm, Perlane or Belotero can help diminish the darkness, leaving you looking more rested and energetic.

Whatever you see in the mirror, we can certainly help you feel better about it. Whether with hyaluronic acid fillers that plump and add firmness or injectables that smooth fine lines and wrinkles, we can devise a quick and easy plan for you this summer.

Keeping Your Eyes Young and Beautiful

When you meet someone for the first time, you likely notice his eyes before any other facial feature. They create expression, they show emotion, and they can captivate.

Their constant movement, though, can easily damage the skin around the eyes, which is our body’s most delicate. Not only does normal smiling, laughing, frowning and squinting tax the skin; we add to the stress by manipulating it throughout the day. We rub the skin when we are sleepy or itchy, tug it to remove makeup and pull it to insert and take out contact lenses. Add the natural slowing of collagen production that comes with aging, and it is inevitable that fine lines, deep wrinkles and sagging will occur.

If I had to choose a feature whose maintenance was critical for looking young and rested, I would definitely select the eyes. There are several measures that you can take to keep your eyes looking beautiful, as well as simple procedures that we can perform in the office.

What You Can Do:

  • Hydrate–Water keeps skin elastic, so drink as many glasses as you can each day. Alcohol has the reverse effect, so limit your intake for the prettiest skin.
  • Protect Yourself from the Sun–Ultraviolet rays cause 90 percent of our skin’s aging. So, wear a hat and sunglasses (so that you squint less), stay out of the sun and go overboard with sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher), even when you are in the shade.
  • Avoid Smoking–Not only is cigarette smoking a cancer risk, nicotine will damage your body’s ability to produce collagen and constrict the blood vessels under the eyes and in the face.

What We Can Do:

To enhance the youthful appearance of your eye area, we can do a few cosmetic quick fixes.

  •  With Botox or Dysport, we can relax the muscles that cause crow’s feet and other wrinkles around the eyes.
  • With Restylane, Juvederm or Belotero, we can fill in the sunken troughs that hollow the eyes and create dark circles.
  • With Thermage CPT or Exilis Elite, we can lift the hooded eyelid or brow.
  • With Fraxel Repair, we can tighten the skin under the eyes and lift drooping eyelids.
